Meet DMI Homes
In business since 1977, DMI Homes know what people demand in a high-quality home.
Not all builders are the same and neither are the standard materials used in home construction. Please read below some of the standard items used in all DMI Homes and their education and experience that makes them one of the area’s most successful builders. Be sure to visit the True Prices, Real People page to see what it means for you.
The people behind the business.
DMI Homes is owned and operated by Mike and Marla Peters. With their sons Brian and Brett, they are a family-owned, hands-on business.
Mike is a licensed engineer and a master craftsman. He’s a graduate of Drake University (BS Business Administration) and Northwestern University (BS Civil Engineering) and became one of the state’s youngest certified general contractors. He oversees every project from start to finish, swings a hammer alongside his sons who do the framing of every home. Quality is their number-one priority.
Marla is the president of DMI Homes., a graduate of Edison Community College (AA) and the University of South Florida (BA Business Administration). She is also a Florida Certified Public Accountant and a Florida State Certified Building Contractor. Each customer will meet with her during the design phase as well as throughout the construction process. She is available to answer all questions.

High quailty materials in every home.
DMI Homes included high quality energy-saving Low-E double pane windows in all floor plans.
All standard roof materials include 30-year dimensional shingles. Options include metal or tile.
Tile flooring is standard in kitchen, baths, front entry and laundry room and includes a crack suppression underlayment. Tile in the living area is standard in all premium packages.
Kitchen & Bath Cabinets
DMI has their own cabinet shop. All kitchen and bath cabinets are made-to-order by DMI’s own employees. Bath vanities are the better 36″, not 32″.
You will meet with Marla to design your dream kitchen!!
Wood Interior Studs
DMI Homes uses wood interior studs and framing, not steel studs. Why is this important? Unlike light-gauge metal studs formed as a channel, wood studs are solid, making them stronger for hanging cabinets and other heavy objects.
Where DMI Builds
DMI builds homes in all of SW Florida including Rotonda West, North Port, South Gulf Cove, Venice, Punta Gorda, Englewood, Sarasota, Cape Haze, Sarasota and Boca Grande as well as all of Sarasota and Charlotte County.
They also build in Lee and Collier Counties.
